This is a painting I did a couple of years ago, and I thought it would be fun to teach a Monochrome class.

This was a popular painting but we will change it up!

We will be painting a similar picture with "Fishermans Island" from Lake Pend Oreille in it. 

​

It will feature the trees backlit by the lightning.

It should be a fun painting, and will teach you the values of light and shadow.

I am currently working on your example painting, so this is just a SAMPLE.

Our paintings will be 18 X 24" on stretched cotton canvas.

T Zinke Art Studio will supply most of your art supplies.

​

A small list of things you may already have is below.

​

1. #2 Pencil

2. Ruler (12" or longer)

3. Tape measure (not cloth)

4. A favorite cup for paint water

5. A misting bottle (small with a fine mist)

6. An old rag to wipe your brush on

7. Paper towels

8. IF you have paint brushes you would like to bring that would be helpful.

9. IF you have Acrylic paint you would like to bring that would be helpful.  We are using Titanium White and Paynes Gray. 

10. Sta-wet palette or a sealable palette to keep your acrylic paint moist.

I will take students 16 + with some experience.

In this class we will be painting loosely.

We will cover layout; getting your design to canvas.

​

You will learn how I start a background. 

(There are many ways and rules we won't worry about).

​

Drawing with a paintbrush is not only fun, it will free you up to let go and just paint.

​

I will help you discover blending your acrylic paint, and show you brushes I use to make life a little easier, and painting fun.

​
